My experience using twitter so far is not very good.  I personally just do not really like twitter, which is why I never made a personal one.  I have been finding myself frequently forgetting to tweet, so I do not really know if I will even pass the twitter participation.  Also, while I know how to use the retweet and @ functions, I am not even sure if retweeting counts as my own tweet for the 20 days. I did not really learn anything new from the web design assignment because I already had to create a website for another class.  However, I really liked it and I found that designing the website was actually pretty fun and calming.  Next time I think I would put pictures on every page; this time I only included them on the homepage and the about me page.  The skills used for this assignment can definitely be used in my future career because I will likely have to create another website for either my students, their parents, or both. ILP #1 - Participation - Lynda Tutorial

Image
For my first ILP, I watched a Lynda tutorial on LinkedIn.  My experience with this is that the tutorial about how to use LinkedIn and the different ways that it helps you as an educational technology was really easy to both understand and follow.  It seemed to me like the fact that the video was broken up into smaller sections that made up the full tutorial helped me to know exactly what each part was about. Because these sections were titled, the titles helped steer my focus toward the points that each section made. Some of the important points that I took notes on about how LinkedIn is a good educational technology included the fact that it helps you add skills because you are able to search nearly any subject and get a "course" that teaches you about it.  These courses are taught by people who are experts in the particular subject you choose.  It also talked about how this site can be used to advance one's career, and that through the use of setting "smart"...

I looked up the website for the high school I attended here in town, Lincoln High School.  Once there, I was able to go to the departments tab and choose my department; I chose English.  While most teachers had links to their class websites, I was unable to access any of them because I haven't been invited to join the class.  However, I did find one teacher who made his website through the Lincoln Homepage website, and I was able to see information about him as a teacher.  He also had tabs for assignments, class calendar, and other helpful tools for his students to access.  Link: https://www.leonschools.net/williamsm2 I plan to use technology in my classroom as a means not only to effectively communicate with students and parents, but to more effectively create lesson plans and assignments.  I think that using technology in some cases will enhance my lessons and make them more fun to learn.  I think that by using a smartboard to complete a ...

Blog Journal 5

I do not have much experience with blogging as I have never done it unless it was a requirement for a class.  This semester is the first semester that I have had a class involving blogging; in fact I have two.  I really do not like blogging as I do not really see the purpose of blogging as opposed to just writing and submitting a paragraph or a set of questions on canvas.  So far in this process the only thing I feel I've gained is the ability to reflect on reading material or experiences and put it into words. A Web 2.0 tool that I found interesting is the LiveBinder tool.  This tool allows educators to basically create a public (or group) file that is organized and can reach a number of people electronically.  As a future teacher, I could use this tool to organize online homework or readings in the form of a pdf or document and put them all into one file that my students would have access to view from home.  This tool could even potentially be used on a...
